Inner Core is the fourth layer of the Business Evolution Framework. It covers vision, values, identity, and leadership — the founder's own non-negotiables and the team agreements that hold under pressure.

Inner Core.

Who you are, what the business is for, and how you lead.

Why this layer matters

Inner Core is layer 04 of five.

Most coaches don’t reach Inner Core. They stay in L3 forever — running tactical sprints, retention plays, pricing audits. Inner Core is the layer that decides whether the business is a tool for your life or the other way around.

Inside this layer

What’s inside inner core.

04.1

Vision

Where the business is going past the next 12 months. Not aspirational vibes — concrete picture of what it looks like at $10M, $20M, exit.

04.2

Values

The non-negotiables. What you say no to, even if revenue suffers. What you fire for. What you celebrate.

04.3

Identity

Who you are as a leader. Most founders carry an identity from the early days that’s now the growth barrier.

04.4

Leadership

How you actually lead — not how you describe leadership in interviews. The behaviour, the cadence, the standard you hold.

Typical work in coaching

What we’d work on here.

L4 work is usually: founder schedule audit (what are you actually spending time on vs what you say is important?), leadership team formation, vision and 3-year roadmap, identity work (what kind of business owner do I want to be, given what I’ve learned?).

A warning about this layer. L4 is the most resisted layer. Founders skip it because it feels soft. It’s actually the layer that decides whether the previous three were worth doing.

Where is your business actually leaking?

The $1,500 Altitude Audit locates you across all five layers. One hour over Google Meet, written plan, yours to keep — whether we work together after or not.

If one of those examples sounds like your business right now — two ways in:

Inner Core in real businesses

What we'd work on at this layer.

Three live examples from the coaching roster. Names redacted, specifics intact. If one of these sounds like your business — apply.

Example 01

A founder who built the business by saying yes to every opportunity. Now 11 clients, none of them ideal. We get clarity on who the business is actually for — and have the conversations to let go of the wrong ones.

Example 02

A leadership team where every conflict ends up on the founder's desk. We rebuild the team agreements, decision rights, how disagreements get resolved — so the founder isn't the referee.

Example 03

A founder running on identity from 2019 — still the technician who built the work. We work through who they need to be in 2027 for the business to scale past them.
